The cork stopper is the sealant that Nature made for wine

The cork stopper is extremely light, since its cells are mainly composed of air (about 90%). It is flexible, being malleable – which is especially important when closing and opening a bottle of wine. It is elastic, and can be used to properly seal bottles of wine for a long time, without being damaged, and returning to its original shape after being removed, being also the most adaptable sealant to the internal shape of the bottle, helping it’s correct sealing. It is waterproof and resistant to moisture and interference from other gases, while allowing the micro-oxygenation of the bottle, through the air present in its own cells.

With BanisioCork*, each cork stopper ensures a unique consistency from one bottle to another. Through an exclusive method, this stopper guarantees unparalleled flavor neutrality. Provide maximum security to your products!

STAGES OF THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS

1
Our stoppers benefit from the unique elasticity provided by cork as the main material. Each year, 35,000 tons of cork are manually harvested for their production.

2
After 6 to 12 months of drying, the raw cork is immersed in hot water, decomposed, and classified by density. Only the cork flower, which is the most precious part of the bark, is used.

3
This patented and eco-friendly process uses supercritical CO² to remove elements from cork that cause undesirable flavors and odors, including the notorious cork taste (TCA).

4
To ensure uniformity and control the aging of our stoppers, exclusive microspheres are incorporated. This mixture, along with water and a binder, is molded and baked in an oven.

5
A polishing machine adjusts the diameter, and a cutter sets the length. The stoppers are polished and then customized through either fire branding or laser marking according to the customer's specifications.

6
Each batch of stoppers undergoes strict quality controls at different stages: when leaving the factory, upon arrival at finishing centers, and after marking and surface treatment processes. Samples are stored in the laboratory.
